Neurology

We have experience working with back pain and spinal injuries, brain diseases, and degenerative conditions. However, we do not provide emergency and critical care hospital services.

We are happy to co-ordinate care with your primary veterinarian so that your pet can be seen by our team as soon as possible. However, in an emergency you should first consult your primary veterinary surgeon or specialist centre to ensure you receive optimal surgical recommendations for your pet.

Common neurological conditions that may benefit from rehabilitation therapy include:

  • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
  • Degenerative myelopathy
  • Lumbosacral disease
  • Fibrocartilagenous embolism (FCE)
  • Wobbler disease (spondylomyelopathy)

Signs that your pet has a neurological condition:

  • Weakness or dragging of the limbs
  • Scuffed nails
  • Falling and slipping over
  • Unable to jump onto or off of furniture or in and out of car
  • Changes in behaviour
  • Twitching or tremors
  • Tilted head or abnormal eye movement
  • Seizures
  • Blindness
  • Pacing or circling
